Janet J. Montgomery, CFP®, CWS®
Janet brings a unique perspective to the wealth-management process: She’s a second-generation financial planner who also has personal experience in the process of starting, growing and then later selling a small business. She focuses on comprehensive financial planning and has particular expertise in helping clients with business, retirement and estate planning, as well as the gifting of assets. Janet truly enjoys getting to know her clients and their unique family dynamics, hopes and dreams; that knowledge helps her work with each client to create a customized wealth-management plan that’s tailored to their unique needs.
In 1978, Janet began working with her father, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional in Georgia. After she married and moved to Scotland with her husband, the couple started an engineering firm for which Janet served on the board of directors and handled tax planning, insurance and employee benefits as the business grew to more than 200 employees. She was instrumental in the negotiations and tax planning during the sale of the business in 2012. Janet re-entered the wealth-management field in Brookshire, Texas, in 2003 and took over her father’s practice three years later.
A CFP® professional and a Certified Wealth Strategist® professional, Janet studied at the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. She holds Series 7, 99 and 66 securities licenses and is a licensed life and health insurance agent as well as a Registered Representative with First Allied Securities, Inc. and an Investment Advisory Representative with First Allied Advisory Services, Inc.
Janet is a member of the Financial Planners Association and volunteers on her church’s finance committee. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family— including her grandkids—and activities such as water & snow skiing, hiking and crossfit. Janet has a passion for giving to those in need; she supports Hydrologica and other charities.
